Captioning in Entertainment Venues

Are you deaf or hard of hearing?  Have you ever attending a sporting event, concert, or other form of live entertainment where the venue failed to provide captioning services?  CREEC is investigating the lack of captioning provided for deaf and hard of hearing individuals at various entertainment venues.  While some venues attempt to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing patrons by providing assistive listening devices, those devices are an insufficient accommodation.  Instead, the venue should provide captions, for example on the scoreboard (or elsewhere within the venue), as shown above.  If you are a deaf or hard of hearing individual and have attended live entertainment where the venue failed to provide captioning services, we would like to talk to you!  Please email us at info@creeclaw.org.  We look forward to speaking with you!
