CRPD v. Colorado Homeless Families

We represent the Center for Rights of Parents with Disabilities (“CRPD”), a small organization dedicated to combating discrimination that impacts parenting for parents with disabilities, in an action against Colorado Homeless Families (“CHF”).   CHF helps homeless families become self sufficient, and to accomplish this mission, it provides transitional housing and various services and supports to people admitted into its program.   CHF, however, excludes people who cannot work from its program, including people who cannot work as a result of their disabilities.   Many of CRPD’s disabled clients would benefit from the services and supports offered by CHF, but they are denied those services and supports because their disabilities prevent them from working.   We have alleged that CHF’s discriminatory criteria violate the Fair Housing Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
